В одной из антарктических экспедиций Ричарда Берда (1939-41) приняли участие бронированые полярники - три (?) лёгких танка M2A2, с которых для дальнейшего облегчения сняли башни и курсовые пулемёты. Компанию танкам составил транспортёр T3E4.
